4 Ways to Be Involved in the Doha Triathlon January 15, 2017 – Posted in: Fitness, News – Tags: Cycling, Doha, Doha Triathlon, Events, Qatar, Running, Swimming, Triathlon
Oola is excited to be a sponsor of the inaugural Doha Triathlon, which will challenge athletes to swim, ride, and run their ways to victory, with either a full Olympic Triathlon distance or a Sprint Triathlon distance!
But you don’t have to be an triathlon athlete to join in on the fun. The Oola team invites you to come take part in a number of ways!
Triathlons wouldn’t be the same without the support of friends, family and spectators. With the upcoming Doha Triathlon on January 20, 2017, we want to share with you different ways you can be involved to make it an incredible experience for everyone involved.
1. Swim, Ride, Run!
The Doha Triathlon is a great first triathlon for anyone looking to experience this beautiful sport! The Sprint distance (half-Olympic) includes a 750m swim in the open waters, 20km bike along a closed cornice circuit and 5km in the MIA Park. For more experienced triathletes, the Olympic distance is the way to go with a 1.5km swim, 40km ride and 10km run.
Registration is open until January 18 or until the maximum number of participants is reached. Register now here.
So, you can run and ride, but you cannot swim? Not to worry! You can build a team and participant in a relay.
2. Offer Cheers and High Fives
Friends, family and other spectators are welcomed to come out to the park to witness the competition. The beautiful Museum of Islamic Art Park will remain open to all throughout the triathlon and there are a number of good viewing points along the course, close to the transition area and also along the Corniche.
The most important task for spectators is to offer encouragement during the event. If you see a competitor in need of a support during the race, remind them of their strength and courage to get this far. After the race, congratulate them and offer them a helping hand if they need it.
Feel free to bring signs of encouragement or celebratory decorations, too!
3. Come Say Hello to Oola’s Team!
We are proudly sponsoring the Doha Triathlon event that comes out of a strong community of passionate health and sports enthusiasts. We will be present at the Expo on Thursday, January 19th and throughout the event on January 20th. If you are at MIA Park, stop by to say hello and check out our latest garments.
The top three winners in the ladies category will receive Oola Outfits.
4. Help us Design an Oola Trisuit
If you’ve been wanting to participate in triathlons but you are not happy with available trisuit options, you are not alone. We’ve been discussing with a hijab athlete who is training for triathlons what kind of a suit she needs and we may be able to design something.
The more we look into it, the more we believe we’re designing the impossible piece. Share with us what you’d like to see in the Oola Trisuit to get early access to reviewing our samples. We are excited to get feedback from other athletes who want to see a Trisuit solution on the market!
Whether you’re participating in the triathlon as an athlete or supporter, we hope to see you at the Doha Triathlon. You can find us on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to locate us, just in case you get lost! See you there!
