What a great weekend we had at the Heya Arabian Fashion exhibition! A fashion exhibition that brought together more than 250 local and international brands in Qatar. The 10th Heya (which means “She” in Arabic) exhibition featured local, regional and international designer abayas, jalabiyas and gowns. It was impressive seeing a huge number of young local entrepreneurs and designers partaking in the exhibition. Oola was invited to give a talk in a forum on exploring startup opportunities for businesswomen and entrepreneurs in the region.
Our co-founder Amina Ahmadi shared her startup journey and passion for outdoor sports with young entrepreneurs and designers. She spoke about her own struggle to find modest active wear and how it led to the creation of Oola. “It’s all about coming up with solutions,” said Amina. She highlighted the opportunities available for young entrepreneurs in the country and gave an overview of the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Qatar. “Entities such as Qatar Business Incubation Center (QBIC) provide a healthy and motivating environment for startups to thrive.” Upon being asked whether Qatar can become a fashion hub, she stated “I believe that we have a great chance to flourish in the fashion industry. Our innovations and products will be different and unique because our needs and context are different from one another.”
